About

I first learned to crochet from two sweet elderly sisters when I was about 12 years old. Granted, I didn't do much but make long chains that didn't result in anything except something that could be used as a jump rope.

After my second daughter was born, I decided to put more effort into my craft. There were lots of days I ripped out all my work, only to begin again. These were the days before the Internet as we know it, so I used books as I learned the various types of stitches. I'm thinking there would have been a lot less frustration in my practice if I had YouTube videos to walk me through the process.

For many years I stuck to mostly designing afghans. I realized that for my own children, I always gravitated toward the smaller afghans and blankets when we were out and about because they were lighter and didn't drag the ground whether in a stroller or carrier. So, the majority of my creations have been stroller-sized afghans. They are also a great size to carry around when you are just learning to walk! For adults, we call this size a lapghan.

In recent years, I have branched out and have begun trying my hand at other types of crochet creations. I've made pillows, pot holders, scarves, hats, mittens, a cat bed shaped like a couch, dog sweaters, and even an oversized cardigan for myself! I enjoy finding new patterns, mixing up patterns I've used before, and embellishing with ribbon and other add-ons to make truly unique creations.
